Here’s a really nifty, yet simple giant knitting style pattern. If the first pattern of this mini collection dedicated to Miss Noodle is easy peasy and ideal for those who don’t have much time on their hands, the tutorial up next is even quicker! Don’t believe me? Set your timer!

Pattern to make a hat and a cardigan - giant knitting

How to make a giant knitting style hat with our Miss Noodle

Materials
Miss Noodle yarn col. Milk g. 140 / 4,93 oz
Needles no. EU 25 / US 50

Stitches
Stockinette stitch: knit 1, purl 1

We decided to use the stockinette stitch, just like we did for the blanket. Our Miss Noodle is so nice as it is, it’s not necessary to use tricky stitches. Less is more!

Hat tutorial giant knitting

Cast on 18 stitches and work the stockinette stitch for 11 rows. Then decrease the crown as follows, keeping in mind that the decrease is done on the right side of the work.

12th row: knit 1, knit 2 together and repeat for the whole row
13th row: purl
14th row: repeat the 12th row
15th row: repeat the 13th row
Bind off by inserting the stitches above the thread.

Sew up the hat.

And that’s it! I’d say there’s still time leftover for our oversized cardigan. Let’s go on then!

Darn by hand as per the chart:

Sew the shoulders by darning colour by colour as the example below:

Cast on 14 stitches of col. Milk and work the stockinette stitch for 4 rows.
5th row: change colour to col. Moss, increase a stitch at the beginning and at the end of the row.
From the 6th to the 8th row: stockinette stitch with the col. Moss
9th row: change colour to col. Mustard, increase a stitch at the beginning and at the end of the row (for a total of 18 stitches).
From the 10th to the 12th row: work the stockinette stitch with the col. Mustard.
Bind off the stitches and sew the sleeves onto the cardigan.
And that’s the cardigan done too! Isn’t it wonderful? I love it.

It’s simple but it’s got that spark about it, sufficiently oversized (if not what kind of giant knitting would it be?) comfy and not to mention how warm and soft it is. All thanks to the Alpaca which our Miss Noodle is made with.

Shall we change colour and make another one?
