The Deluxe Faux Leather is still the star of this small collection achievable by many, all it takes is to be comfortable with a pair of scissors and a sewing machine. This tutorial is aimed at knitters who with a bit of DIY can create a colourful and extremely useful yarn storage pouch. Saying that, as you’ll see the yarn storage pouch can also turn into a mini “for whatever you want” bag.
The yarn storage pouch is just the first of the projects designed for this section dedicated entirely to the makers who crave personalized accessories. Coming up are also a knitting needle case, a zipper case, a maxi envelope and an apron.

Steps on how to make a faux leather yarn storage pouch
With the pencil draw a33x24 cm rectangle. On one of the two shorter sides, add another 5cm that we’ll need to make the pass way for the drawstring, marking the half way point with a notch to indicate the fold. Finally, add a cm seam all the way around and mark the three notches on the drawstring side with the pattern notcher.
Instead now, with the pencil draw the outline of the pattern on the back of the fabric and then cut out the two panels.
With care and attention mark the notches making sure we cut the lowest one up to at least 1cm deep.
By folding the part with the notches, we can go ahead with a straight seam on the foot on both sides and for each panel.
Now, folding the short side that we’ve just hemmed sideways, on the central notch, we’re going to sew a seam where the draw string will pass through and will also be the opening of our pouch.
Do exactly the same for the other panel.
Overlap the two panels with the right side of the fabric on the inside to sew a seam that’s 1cm from the edge along the three free sides.
Turn the bag inside out and thread the previously cut drawstring through the hole, first on one side then the other, make sure you tie a tight knot at the end of the string.
What do you reckon?
The second accessory we’ve created is a knitting needle case which you can find here.
