THE WINNER IS ETTORE FAVINI
Ettore Favini is the winner of “DHG Art Factory, Prize for contemporary art”, the International public competition intended to promote contemporary art and strengthen the link between industry and territory, in the name of research and creativity.
His project obtained the unanimous consent of the jury and will be painted on the external façade of a company building (Main Street Srl) located near downtown Prato and used as a warehouse, showroom and representative office.
Gaia Gualtieri (Managing Director of Main Street Srl) presided the Jury comprised of Francesco Funghi (Director of the Vault Contemporary Art Gallery), Lorenzo Giusti (Curator of EX3 Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Firenze), Livia Savorelli (Editorial Manager of Espoarte Contemporary Art Magazine), and Massimiliano Tonelli (Director of Artribune). All the judges holding a prominent position in the contemporary panorama have represented the varying types of art expertise, also in relation with the cultural context of the city of Prato.
“Ettore Favini,” the judges claim, “has explored the theme linked to space, a distinguishing feature of his work, as he weaves a weft in multiple colours with a thread that is a link, a trait d’union, between present and past, tradition and innovation, memory and research. In order to install the diversified art on the façade of the Company, the artist will produce his own canvas. All the specificity of DHG, the multiplicity of colours of the raw materials and the traditional knowledge that underlies innovation, will meet here. The work of art will be the symbol of the will of our Company, as we want to unite different scopes to one element of the Pratese tradition: the thread.”
Main Street Srl pushed this experience with so much conviction and enthusiasm as to consider the idea of proposing future cooperations to many other artists taking part in the competition . “DHG Art Factory, Prize for contemporary art” constitutes just the first of a series of initiatives that will make DHG - dyeinghousegallery brand (www.dyeinghousegallery.com) collide with the art and culture worlds in the interest of new ideas and possible links between industry and creativity.
